The power of a woman! The month of May is very special to me as it celebrates much that is close to my heart: women’s health, National Nurses Week, and, most importantly, Mother’s Day.

I have spent the greater part of my life working as a nurse and mother while enjoying the ongoing quest to achieve better health. I’ve attended seminars and classes to learn about the always-changing and advancing methods toward a happier, healthier life. 

This month, we’re going to talk about a pain-relieving product that local doctors, pharmacists, and health store employees say is working quite effectively. 

That product is CBD oil. 

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a compound found in marijuana and hemp plants.

Relax. You don’t have to break out Visine to hide your red eyes or purchase a big bag of Doritos to satisfy your uncontrollable munchies. CBD oil does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the mind-altering chemical that creates a natural high. 

Some patients report that CBD oil helps them sleep better. Others say it provides relief for conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and neuropathy. And still others are touting its therapeutic benefits for anxiety and depression. 

If you suffer from any of these conditions, CBD oil may be worth a try. Remember, any pain relief is better than none at all. Just be open-minded, consult with your physician, and educate yourself about CBD products.

I’d also like to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there who shower their children with unconditional love on a daily basis. Enjoy your day. You’ve earned it!
