St. Luke’s at The Villages will soon be expanding and bringing its brand of excellence to the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood. “The addition of our second facility at the beautiful Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood will allow us to provide a broader scope of eye care, and help more patients improve their vision,” added Dr. Ireland.

What is your background?

“Like Dr. Ireland, I am a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery – including advanced technology intraocular implants.

Prior to joining the St. Luke’s team, I practiced in Stockton California and served in the United States Air Force. I was the Chief of Ophthalmology at MacDill Air Force Base and I earned the Meritorious Service Medal, an honor presented to those in the armed forces who distinguish themselves by outstanding acts of services to the United States.

In addition, I have a passion for humanitarian medicine. I’ve completed mission work in Zambia, The Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.

My wife and three small children are excited to have returned to Florida and it’s my honor to serve patients here in The Villages.“

What led you to St. Luke’s at The Villages?

“St. Luke’s was an obvious choice for me because they’re known around the world for being leaders in cataract surgery in terms of technology, innovation and outcomes. Even more importantly, the level of patient care here is exceptional. Each and every member of our team contributes to serving the patient.
